5 Books to Start Your Spiritual Journey

I have a small addiction to books – always have. I’ll read a great review or hear about a novel from a friend, and I’m clicking through to Amazon before the end of the conversation. When it comes to my wellness journey, I have been insatiable with books from gifted authors and teachers. There are a couple books in particular that really blew my mind, truly changing my life by the time I finished the last chapter.

Whether you are new-age-curious, a well-worn wellness traveler or completely new to the idea of holistic healing, these are some of my favorite books to add to your self-love library:

The Universe Has Your Back: Transform Fear to Faith – For me, this is the book that started it all. I had read multiple books by Gabby Bernstein, including Spirit Junkie: A Radical Road to Self-Love and Miracles and May Cause Miracles. When I read The Universe Has Your Back, things just clicked. I started utilizing some of the lessons from the book and right away saw amazing results. I know for a fact that the amazing things in my life that happened over the past year are because of Gabby and this great book.

Crystal Muse: Everyday Rituals to Tune In to the Real You – If you are interested in crystals and want a beautiful coffee table book to get you started, I can’t recommend Crystal Muse enough. My mother gave me this book for Christmas this year after I had begun getting into crystals and gems, and this book took me to the next level.

Idiot’s Guide to Ayurveda – Despite the name, this is a beautifully thoughtful introduction to Ayurveda. I heard Sahara Rose Ketabi on the Almost 30 Podcast and fell in love with her message. I have brought in several Ayurvedic practices into my every day life, like self-massage with almond oil and tongue scraping, and I have experienced nothing but positive results.

Moonology: Working with the Magic of Lunar Cycles – If you’ve seen moon rituals on Instagram and want to learn what all the fuss is about, Moonology is a quick, fun read to learn more about the moon and its impact on our lives. While I definitely do not believe that the zodiac or moon location controls us, I do think there is an impact we cannot ignore (hello ocean tides!). Also – the one full moon ritual I did go to was an incredibly freeing experience and I would encourage trying it out!

The Soul Searcher’s Handbook: A Modern Girl’s Guide to the New Age World – If you’d like a textbook on everything “new age,” including the zodiac, crystals, meditation, reiki, aromatherapy, yoga, tarot and more, Emma Mildon’s book is a must have. This is the very first “spiritual” item I bought for myself. I keep this book by my bed and reference it often. It’s a great “basics” reference to have on hand.

PS – as pictured… there are a lot more where this came from! I am going to do more book reviews, as there as a ton more I have left on my list to read including You Are a Badass and The Four Agreements
